American Made

Pretty sure I shouldn't be celebrating this particular flavor of American greatness.

Logan Lucky

Is there an I'm So Clever and Also Not Pompous genre?

Happy Death Day

Far, far, far too similar to the film it's paying homage to.

Black Panther

Stunning stylistically and ideologically. Finally.

Dunkirk

Visceral as well as understated. (Beware, it'll creep up on you.)

The Leftovers: Season 3

Because the melodrama got too heavy, I couldn't buy the requited romance.

Their Finest

A drama inside a farce inside a romance inside a war film.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

That's how you create a perfect cameo - spend most of the film in a literal deep freeze.

Stronger

Some touching moments, but what I really want to know (nerd alert) is whether CGI is done on the raw footage or the edited footage.

Baseball

Across this immensely dense documentary, the best story by far is Harry Chiti's.
